“Searching for the Big Red Tree” is a book written and illustrated when I was living in Milano, away from all of my friends and family. It was a new way to cope with my feeling of being homesick. The book is an homage to my closest friends and all the challenges we went through together.
Challenges
1. I didn't have a drawing pad back then, so using only a mouse and keyboard as drawing tools was the biggest challenge
2. Show different phases of the journey in the storyline
3. Subtle but unmistakable inspirations from real characters
4. Hints of the actual conversations in poems and text
Character:
Each character is inspired by a real person, reflecting their unique traits—whether they are precise, passionate, witty, musical, a builder, or a combination of these qualities.
Storyline:
Creating the storyboard. How each chapter would be connected to the next one.
Each Chapter:
Exploring each chapter in detail. Around four pages connect and tell the story of every new character.
Poems:
Writing the story and poems was one of the most challenging parts of this experience.
